Students will participate in the first of two level II fieldwork experiences required for the program. An in-depth experience in the delivery of occupational therapy services will be provided in one of a variety of clinical placement sites. This experience shall develop and expand the students' repertoire of occupational therapy practice in an effort to develop competent, entry-level prepared occupational therapy assistants that are skilled in applying the OT process to client care. Students will be mentored through this experience by a qualified OT Practitioner. In addition, students will participate in an online portion of the course with student learning focusing on the regulation of the profession of occupational therapy at the local, state, and federal levels. Principles of occupational therapy ethics/dispute resolution systems will be explored and applied to personal and professional conflicts. Students will explore roles and responsibilities of various team members while reflecting on their own responsibilities of working in the profession of Occupational Therapy. Psychosocial factors that influence engagement in occupation will be integrated into student learning. Level II fieldwork must be completed within 12 months of academic preparation.
