Course Description
Students will be presented with an overview of sport history in the United States from 1900 to the present. Utilizing film (i.e., past and present movies and documentaries) as the platform, students will examine social, political, and economic make-up and the ability of sport to effect and shape institutions. Particular focus will be given to social class, race and ethnicity, gender, community, technology, and commercialization through the media. Prerequisite: ENG 1510. J occasionally.
