Documentary Techniques

Course Description

This advanced video course entails the production of a documentary. This requires more discipline than a fictive piece, as student must research potential subjects, interact with interviewees, and engage their audience with factual content. Classes will use skills learned during the original video production course, expanding knowledge of filming and interviewing techniques, the production process, production design, effective communication, and theme development. Class time will be spent on filmmaking exercises, viewing and discussing examples, writing reactions to those examples, conducting lighting and camera tests, and filming scenes for the final project.
