Criminology

Course Description

This course will focus on various issues surrounding the sociological study of crime. Students will examine how crime is defined, its distribution over different types of societies and social groups, the different methods used to measure the extent and nature of crime, theories of crime causation, the characteristics of criminals and victims, particular types of criminal conduct, and approaches to crime control. Eligibility: ENG 1510 without supports or Corequisite: ENG 1510 with supports. J occasionally; C occasionally.
